The student develops a reasonable understanding of the ways of thinking (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, values, philosophies), the behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions) and the cultural products – both tangible and intangible (for example, art, history, literature, music) — of Hispanic societies.

These courses have helped me develop my understanding in the area of Spanish Literature and Culture. In SPAN 304 and SPAN 322, I learned about the literary words from Latino authors. In SPAN 304, I learned how to analyze poems, short stories, and plays. I fell in love with several poems.. In SPAN 322, I learned about the pre-columbian works found in the time of the conquest of Hernan Cortes. We read poems from Netzahualcoyotl and Montezuma II. In SPAN 306 and SPAN 308, I learned about the history of the culture. In SPAN 306, I learned about the Latin American countries and the history. In SPAN 308, I learned about the Aztlan times and Mexico's history.
